Evolutionary Reflections

Evolutionary Reflections is an ongoing series of self-portraits that maps my artistic journey—each work a marker of personal and creative growth. Committed to creating at least one self-portrait annually, the series captures shifts in style, technique, and self-awareness, while reflecting the ever-evolving paths I explore as an artist.

The 2023 portrait “Lost in my own world” marked a pivotal moment, bridging my worlds of traditional art and animation. It combined oil painting with digital animation, culminating in an augmented reality (AR) experience that expanded the work beyond the canvas. My 2024 portrait, “Broken Blossom” was selected as a finalist in the 2025 Burwood Art Prize. This piece plays with visual perspective, encouraging the viewer to question whether it’s 2D or 3D. It explores the fragmented nature of identity and how broken pieces—when reassembled—can become something uniquely whole and beautiful.
